Point-of-sale activity in Saudi Arabia recorded notable momentum over the past week, with the number of transactions rising to 270.7 million, totaling SAR 16.63 billion, compared to approximately SAR 12.07 billion in the previous period—an indicator reflecting strong domestic demand and an accelerating pace of spending.
The Framework
According to the Saudi Central Bank’s POS bulletin, spending showed diversification across sectors, أبرزها:
- Food & beverages: SAR 2.83 billion
- Restaurants & cafés: SAR 1.98 billion
- Clothing & accessories: SAR 1.38 billion
- Transport: SAR 1.23 billion
- Healthcare: SAR 1.02 billion
Other sectors also recorded balanced activity, including:
- Professional services: SAR 906 million
- Furniture & home supplies: SAR 610 million
- Jewelry: SAR 499 million
- Construction materials: SAR 436 million
City Activity
Riyadh led activity with SAR 5.52 billion across 86.3 million transactions,
followed by Jeddah with SAR 2.18 billion,
then Dammam with SAR 809.7 million.
Transactions were distributed across other cities in the Kingdom, reflecting a broad spread of consumer activity.
