The medical and surgical team of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program began today the separation surgery of the Filipino twins “Klia and Moris Ann,” who are conjoined at the head, at King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh, in implementation of the directives of the leadership.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and head of the medical team, explained that the case is considered among the most complex globally, due to the interconnection of brain tissues and the shared venous sinuses, in addition to health complications in one of the twins, including heart dysfunction and complete kidney failure.

He indicated that the operation will be carried out in five stages, with the participation of 30 specialists from various medical fields, and is expected to last around 24 hours.

He added that the risk rate reaches 50%, with the possibility of severe neurological complications reaching up to 60%, noting that the medical decision was based on precise evaluation and consultations with specialized centers, with the twins’ family fully informed of all details.

This operation marks the 70th case within the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, which has handled 157 cases from 28 countries worldwide since 1990.

B بث Analysis
The operation is not read as a medical procedure only…
but as a humanitarian and scientific test at once.

The complexity here is not measured by the difficulty of separation…
but by the team’s ability to manage risk.

Here lies the difference:
Medicine that treats…
and a system that creates hope.

In operating rooms…
achievements are not measured by time,
but by the lives saved.
