His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met today in Jeddah with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, in a meeting that reflects the continued Saudi diplomatic engagement amid the ongoing regional escalation.

Overview

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Italian Republic, and explored ways to develop them across various fields, in a manner that strengthens the partnership between the two countries.

They also discussed recent regional developments in light of the military escalation in the region, and its implications for freedom of international navigation, the security of energy supplies, and its potential impact on the global economy.

The two sides further examined the importance of coordinating joint efforts in a way that enhances regional security and stability, and mitigates the risks associated with rising tensions.

BETH Analysis

The meeting is not to be read within the framework of bilateral relations alone…
but within the management of balances at a moment of escalation.

Italy’s presence here reflects a growing European awareness of the Kingdom’s role as a pillar of stability, particularly in energy and maritime security.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia is moving along a balanced path:
active diplomacy… without direct involvement in escalation.

Riyadh is not merely observing the scene…
but working to recalibrate it.

When crises escalate… major capitals move with calm.
