The Saudi Ministry of Media’s Kunooz Saudi Arabia initiative has launched the documentary series “966+”, which explores a wide range of topics closely connected to the daily lives of Saudi citizens, as part of a documentation track aimed at uncovering untold stories from the Kingdom and presenting them as part of the shared human history.

Producers of the series said the title “966+” is inspired by Saudi Arabia’s international dialing code, a symbolic reference to the Kingdom’s national identity that has become widely recognizable globally. Each episode focuses on a theme linked to society’s identity and culture—such as social media, the history of music in Saudi Arabia, and the Arabic language—along with other everyday issues carrying cultural and historical dimensions.

Episodes are presented within both local and global contexts, drawing on journalistic, television, and cinematic archives, alongside contemporary visual elements including infographics and graphic design to simplify information and enhance visual appeal.

The series is currently broadcast on Saudi TV, the Cultural Channel, and SBC, and is also available on the Shahid and STC TV platforms, as well as onboard Saudia flights.

The Kunooz Saudi Arabia initiative falls under the Human Capability Development Program, one of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 programs. It aims to document Saudi cultural richness and civilizational contributions, and to highlight Saudi success stories across various fields through the production of documentaries, short films, and animated content.

The initiative has previously produced several documentary works, including “The Destination,” “Station Seven,” “A Difficult Phase,” “Seagull of the Arabs,” “On Equal Footing,” “What Saudis Eat,” “Saudi Atlas,” and “Horizon,” in addition to the two short films “Ra‘i Al-Ajrab” and “Laylat Al-Safra”. Kunooz productions have also participated in a number of international festivals and garnered multiple global awards.
