Saudi Arabia Records Drop in Unemployment and Boosts Women’s Participation in the Labor Market

The General Authority for Statistics announced the results of the labor market survey for the third quarter of 2025, showing significant improvements in unemployment indicators and women’s participation in economic activity.

The results revealed that the unemployment rate among Saudis reached 7.5% in Q3 2025, down by 0.3 percentage points compared to Q3 2024. In another positive indicator, female unemployment fell to 12.1%, a decline of 1.5 percentage points, reflecting the effectiveness of programs and initiatives aimed at empowering women and enhancing employment opportunities.

Data also showed an increase in economic participation for Saudi males to 64.3%, up by 0.3 percentage points, while the rate of employed Saudi women over the past five years rose by 3 percentage points to reach 29.7%, reflecting positive shifts in the structure of the Saudi labor market.

The overall labor force participation rate reached 66.9%, marking a quarterly decrease of 0.2 percentage points versus an annual increase of 0.3 percentage points, while the employment-to-working-age population ratio reached 64.6%, recording a decrease of 0.4 percentage points compared to Q2 2025, with an annual increase of 0.5 percentage points compared to Q3 2024.

The General Authority for Statistics affirmed that these indicators reflect the continued national efforts to develop the Saudi labor market and provide opportunities for community participation in building a prosperous economy, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and its programs related to human capital development and sustainable economic growth.
