His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports, extended his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — may God protect them — following the Cabinet’s approval today of the new Sports System, a major regulatory milestone designed to advance the development of the sports sector in the Kingdom.

His Highness affirmed that the approval reflects the leadership’s continued support for the sports sector and aligns with the Kingdom’s expanding ambitions. He noted that the new system establishes a modern regulatory framework that enhances efficiency, strengthens governance, and opens broad opportunities for investment and talent development.

He added that the Ministry of Sports will work with all partners to ensure the effective implementation of the system, maximizing its impact on federations, clubs, athletes, and the wider community. His Highness emphasized that regulatory modernization is a key pillar in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 for the sports sector.

Key Features of the New System

The system will come into effect 180 days after its issuance, and is built upon core goals and pillars, including:

Strengthening governance and transparency within sports entities.

Enhancing the regulatory environment and improving sports administration and institutional performance.

Stimulating sports investment through clear and attractive regulatory mechanisms.

Developing community and competitive sports, and supporting programs and initiatives across regions.

Empowering elite athletes and emerging talents through an effective and supportive organizational structure.

Enhancing coordination among relevant stakeholders to ensure the highest levels of oversight and supervision.

Broad Impact on Society and the Economy

The new system serves as a key enabler of the National Sports Strategy and is directly linked to its main pillars: increasing sports participation, developing talent pathways, and hosting major global sporting events.

Its impact spans several areas:

Economically: Increasing investment attractiveness and supporting the growth of non-oil revenue streams.

Health-wise: Encouraging sports participation and improving public health and quality of life.

Competitively: Elevating the performance of Saudi national teams and clubs in regional and international events.

Employment: Creating a wide range of job opportunities through the expansion of sports entities, facilities, and activities.

The system is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing the Kingdom’s global standing in the sports sector, in line with the ambitions of Vision 2030.
