The Saudi Museums Commission, in collaboration with the Heritage Commission, has issued a call for participation in the 12th Red Sea Conference, scheduled for April 9–12, 2026, at the soon-to-be-inaugurated Red Sea Museum in Bab Al-Bunt Historic Building, located in the heart of UNESCO-listed Historic Jeddah.

🔹 A Global Platform for Cultural Dialogue
Since its inception in 2002, the conference has become a premier international platform to study the Red Sea as a unique geographic and cultural entity. It has previously been hosted by prestigious institutions such as the British Museum and leading universities across Europe and the Middle East.

For the first time, the conference will be held on the Red Sea’s very shore, in Jeddah—signaling Saudi Arabia’s growing role in shaping global cultural and academic conversations.

🔹 Key Themes This Year Include:

Preserving cultural heritage and museum collections.

Digital documentation and engaging local communities.

The Red Sea as a bridge of civilizations.

Underwater cultural heritage and maritime archaeology.

Environment and human adaptation across centuries.

Historic ports such as Jeddah, Berenice, and Massawa.

🔹 Call for Papers
Researchers are invited to submit English abstracts (max 300 words) by October 15, 2025, via email:

Poster submissions are also welcome. All entries will be reviewed by a specialized academic committee.

🔹 Support for Scholars
Five travel grants will be awarded to accepted participants, with priority given to scholars from Red Sea countries and developing nations.
