BETH | Follow-up & Analysis – July 4, 2025

In a notable shift in tone, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its desire for diplomatic solutions on Friday, but made it contingent on one clear condition:

U.S. guarantees not to use military force during negotiations.

Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated:

“We need answers from the United States… They must convince us that they will not use military force again during the negotiation process. That is essential for us to make a thoughtful decision about the future of talks.”

This statement follows the recent U.S. B-2 bomber strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. While former President Donald Trump claimed the facilities had been “completely destroyed,” subsequent assessments from U.S. intelligence agencies—particularly the CIA—indicated significant damage, but not total destruction. The Pentagon noted the Iranian nuclear program had likely been delayed by at least two years.

🧠 BETH Analysis: When the Myth Crumbles

“The halo has fallen.”
These words, voiced by a U.S. official in comments to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath, capture the strategic shift in how Iran is now perceived.

The joint U.S.–Israeli strikes, he explained, shattered the long-standing belief that Iran was untouchable or shielded from military retaliation.

“The truth is, they are not,” the official said.

Another official in the U.S. administration confirmed that Iran is now significantly weaker than it was just months ago—both in terms of its nuclear project and its regional influence, referencing recent Hezbollah setbacks in Lebanon.

While Washington admits that completely destroying the Iranian nuclear program is an unrealistic goal, it considers the current weakening of Iran’s capabilities a strategic success that paves the way for new terms in any future negotiations.

🧭 BETH – Strategic Depth Insight:

For years, Iran’s regional posture was built upon a formula:

Threat + Deterrence + Aura

But that formula is cracking…

The threat remains.

The deterrence is fractured.

The aura—media, ideological, and military—is fading.

And the regime is now asking for guarantees

something the powerful do not ask for.

✒️ BETH Symbolic Closure:

Those who demand guarantees not to be struck… no longer hold the initiative.
And if Iran is calling for calm,
it’s because the strikes cut deeper than words… and struck harder than expected.
