Al-Ula airport increases its capacity ... in conjunction with the start of winter tourism activities
Al-Ula - The Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate announced the completion of the second phase of the work to raise the capacity of the runways of Al-Ula airport, in cooperation with the General Authority for Civil Aviation, and the completion of the development phase of Al-Ula airport coincides with the preparations of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula to receive the increasing number of visitors to the governorate, with an increase in the number Direct flights from Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, in addition to more activities that will be launched during next January, most notably the opening of the Old City site to Al Zouari throughout the year for the first time.
The authority had previously announced the completion of the renovation of the main building and the expansion of the aircraft services yard to accommodate larger aircraft, in addition to increasing the airport's capacity by 300 percent from 100,000 passengers to 400,000 passengers annually.
And it responded to the engineering requirements to expand the aviation services yard, the secondary aisles for the aircraft, and the size of the airport services yard increased to 89,000 square meters, while the extension of the secondary corridors reached 110,000 square meters, and as a result of this expansion, Al-Ula Airport could accommodate 10 additional aircraft, six E-class aircraft, and four Large class C aircraft.
