Saudi Arabia .. Signing contracts for desalinated water projects

The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Eng. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, today, in the presence of the Governor of the Foundation, Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, signed contracts to implement new projects for the Shuaiba production system (the first phase) and the brotherly production system (the first phase), with capacity Total design of one million cubic meters of desalinated water.

The desalination, through these projects, aims to reduce the cost of producing a cubic meter of desalinated water to 1.2 riyals and less, and to reduce electricity consumption to less than 2.75 kilowatt hours per cubic meter.

The contracts signed included a contract with a company to implement the "Shuaiba 1" production system with a design capacity of 600,000 cubic meters per day of desalinated water, and to achieve the goal of increasing local content and localizing the desalination industry, and a contract with a specialized company, to implement the "brotherly 1" production system with a design capacity of 400,000 cubic meters per day of desalinated water.
