Disclosure of the details of the new route of the Saudi Dakar Rally
The organizing committee of the Saudi Dakar Rally announced today, through a "virtual press conference" from Paris, the final details of the rally's track, with the participation of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports, Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, and His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, Jan Luminier, CEO of Amore Sport, and Director of the Dakar Rally David Castera.
Details of the completely new route of the Saudi Dakar Rally 2021, which will be held for the second year in a row on the territory of the Kingdom, from 3 to 15 January 2021 AD, and starts from Jeddah, a distance of 7,646 km, with the length and width of the desert and the topography of the Kingdom, passing through Bisha and Wadi Al-Dawasir Riyadh, Buraidah, Hail, Sakaka, Neom, Al-Ula, and Yanbu, reaching the finish line in Jeddah again on January 15, and the race interspersed with a day of rest for drivers and participating teams on January 9 in Hail.
He added: "The first edition of the Saudi Dakar Rally last year showed the beautiful nature of our country, with its picturesque landscapes, vast deserts and historical monuments, in an unprecedented racing experience, and in this new version there will be a different version in all its forms and unique and with a different path, so that the contestants and viewers live a new experience. The conference witnessed announcing the characteristics of the track, marathon stages, highlighting new safety systems to better protect the contestants, and revealing the teams and drivers participating in various categories (cars, motorcycles, quad motorcycles, SSVs, trucks), in addition to the new category that It is participating for the first time in the rally (classic Dakar), with 559 competitors from 49 different countries.
