The Crown Prince launches the general scheme of logistics centers .. The goal is to make the kingdom a global logistics center
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and prime minister, chairman of the Supreme Committee for Transport and Logistics, has launched the general plan for logistics centers, which aims to develop the infrastructure of the logistics sector in the kingdom, diversify the local economy, and strengthen the kingdom's position as a leading investment destination and a global logistics center.
His Highness The Crown Prince stressed that the launch of the general plan of logistics centers comes as an extension of a package of ongoing initiatives, in accordance with the objectives of the national strategy for Transport and logistics in order to develop the logistics sector to support economic growth and develop local, regional and international connectivity to international trade networks and global supply chains, in addition to strengthening partnership with the private sector, expanding job generation opportunities, and consolidating the kingdom's position as a global logistics center because of its geographical location that connects three of the most important continents of the world (Asia, Europe and Africa).
The general plan of logistics centers includes ( 59 ) centers with a total area exceeding ( 100 ) million square meters, including ( 12 ) logistics centers for the Riyadh Region, (12 ) logistics centers for the Makkah Region, (17 ) logistics centers for the eastern region, and( 18 ) logistics centers in the rest of the kingdom, where work is currently underway in ( 21 ) centers, with all centers to be completed by 2030, the Centers will also enable local industries to export Saudi products with high efficiency, as well as support e-commerce to facilitate the connection between logistics centers distribution centers within the regions, cities and governorates of the kingdom very quickly, in addition to providing high traceability and facilitating Obtaining licenses to practice logistics activity, especially after the launch of the unified logistics license and granting licenses to more than ( 1500 ) local, regional and international logistics companies, and the launch of the alfasah initiative within two hours in cooperation with the relevant government agencies.
The logistics services sector is one of the promising pillars of economic and developmental diversity in the Kingdom, and is currently witnessing many qualitative initiatives and major developments aimed at achieving a major leap towards the development of the sector and expanding its economic and developmental contributions.the Ministry of transport and logistics works according to a methodology that seeks to develop the logistics industry, enhance the export strategy, expand investment opportunities, and dedicate partnership with the private sector.
It is worth mentioning that last April, the Kingdom achieved a new achievement in the transport and logistics system after it jumped ( 17 ) globally ranked in the logistics index issued by the World Bank, where it advanced to the 38th place out of ( 160 ) countries in the international ranking in the logistics efficiency index, and the Ministry of transport and logistics recently launched a package of initiatives in the logistics sector to raise the efficiency of performance, reengineering procedures, and applying the best international practices in this vital sector; to enhance the kingdom's position as a global logistics hub, as it included the launch of a special and integrated logistics zone at King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, and the announcement of Apple as the first The national strategy for Transport and logistics also aims to reach the kingdom to the list of the best ( 10 ) countries in the world within the Logistics Performance Index by 2030.
