The Riyadh Expo 2030 exhibition plan was revealed

The kingdom has unveiled the master plan for Riyadh Expo 2030, which reflects the importance of Riyadh Expo 2030 and its positive role, and embodies the main theme of the exhibition: “together we look forward to the future”.

The exhibition will be held near King Salman International Airport, making it easier for visitors arriving through the airport to reach the exhibition site within a few minutes, through their use of the “Riyadh train” network, which covers all parts of Riyadh, along with the modern road network, and is connected to one of the three entrances to the exhibition.

The 226 pavilions of the exhibition were designed in a globe-like design, with the equator in the middle; in a visual orientation that matches the orientation of the exhibition and its vision, which ensures equal opportunities for all participants in the exhibition, while the design of the exhibition reflects the ancient urban style, the history of Riyadh, its culture and nature, the common interest of the kingdom with the rest of the world in the climate, and enhancing the ambition to foresee a future full of potential.

The location of the pavilions of the countries in the exhibition will be determined in a flexible way according to the meridians of each country, in an arrangement that brings together countries from the North and south of the globe side by side, to symbolize in essence the important role played by the kingdom in facilitating cooperation between the countries of the world, thus contributing to facilitating the design of the visitor's trip, and ensuring the ease of walking very short distances to move between pavilions, public squares, facilities dedicated to culture and innovation, service facilities for food, rest and waiting, smoothly and flexibly.

Visitors to the exhibition will also enjoy walking along fully shaded corridors with designs from the architectural heritage inspired by the history of Riyadh, as well as wandering in a modern green oasis within one of the tributaries of the “Wadi Al-sully” that passes through the exhibition site, reflecting the keenness of the Kingdom and its capital Riyadh in preserving and developing nature sustainably.

In the same context, a landmark symbolizing the “responsibility to protect the planet” will be erected at the heart of the master plan of Riyadh Expo 2030, based on 195 columns representing the number of participating countries in the exhibition, and this landmark is surrounded by three pavilions, each of which embodies the exhibition's sub-themes: “prosperity for all”,”climate action” and”a better tomorrow”.

The exhibition will also feature the C3 collaborative Change Corner, an area that will be an engine for innovation and creativity, during the seven-year journey before the launch of Riyadh Expo 2030 and beyond, with the aim of showing how the smartest minds can collaborate in terms of scientific, social and intellectual innovations, and accelerate the changes that will shape our future.

 

Lamia Bint Abdulaziz Al Muhanna, a member of the Riyadh Expo 2030 master plan team, said in her presentation of the master plan to the members of the International Bureau of Exhibitions: “The Master Plan will work to develop a version of the expo that will be the most flexible for visitors while moving around the site, the most interactive, cooperative and sustainable ever, and we will be keen to provide an exceptional experience for visitors to the exhibition, and we will enable full and balanced participation, with added value for all participating countries and we will provide an unparalleled quality experience for more than 40 million visitors.

She added: “Riyadh Expo 2030 is inspired by modern natural and traditional advantages, as it is designed around a valley surrounded by a set of pavilions for each country, and provides all participating countries with unlimited opportunities, as the exhibition plan offers a wide range of pavilions of different sizes and types with a commitment to allocate a pavilion for each country, and all participants will be able to achieve their priorities and develop pavilions in harmony with the main theme of Expo and its sub-themes, where the opportunities for exploration will be limitless to enable visitors to live the experience of moving by themselves to any country in the world and enjoy diverse and continuous cultural and entertainment events, the exhibition will include international restaurants from around the world and offers Live music”.

Engineer Lamia al Muhanna continued:”the exhibition will include rich artistic opportunities for cultural and professional development and development.we plan to launch a participating Laboratory at Expo 2025 Osaka and will continue to help countries cope with the recurring challenges in the preparatory period for Riyadh Expo 2030. at the end of the exhibition, we will help 100 selected countries to reuse their pavilions, including serving schools, clinics and research centers in their countries.

For her part, Nof Bint Majid Al Muneef, a member of the Riyadh Expo 2030 master plan team, said: “Our goal in the kingdom is to hold the first eco-friendly exhibition that achieves a zero level of carbon emissions, as the Riyadh Expo 2030 site will be powered by Clean Energy based on solar energy, and we are developing high standards for resource efficiencies and detailed strategies to enhance biodiversity, eliminate food waste and ensure green waste management and recycling.

She added:”We will enable and help to finance and build various partnerships that promote the development phase and the goals of the exhibition, starting from the collaborative angle of change, which we call the (triple vision), where we will finance and be incubators to build international projects starting from 2025".

It is noteworthy that the kingdom has announced its goal to make Riyadh Expo 2030 the most sustainable and impactful Expo ever, in line with its climate commitments and achieve carbon neutrality to achieve a positive impact on the environment in Riyadh, a goal that is clearly reflected in the main plan of the exhibition, which provides concepts related to global standards of sustainability, such as: urban afforestation, the use of treated water, the provision of new energy sources, in addition to taking into account the design of the main plan of the exhibition to enable the reuse of the site after the end of its holding period, with the aim of developing an innovative urban model that ensures sustainability it promotes innovation and creativity in the kingdom.
