King Abdulaziz City for science and technology "kaxt", China Electric Power, Equipment and technology company and Beijing Microelectronics Technology Company signed today a memorandum of understanding to establish a center for the design and manufacture of electronic chips.
Under the memorandum of understanding, "kaxt", China Electric Power Company and Beijing Microelectronics Technology Company will calibrate manufactured electronic chips, design electronic systems for them, identify target applications and specifications for which the parties are involved in developing solutions, hold workshops to identify the need, and discover opportunities for commercial application of advanced solutions.
The memorandum was signed by vice president of King Abdulaziz City for science and technology for the energy and industry sector Dr. Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Shehri, general manager of China Electric Power Company Yu Jun, and general manager of Beijing Microelectronics Technology Company Zhao DongYan.
The cooperation reinforces the efforts of the Saudi semiconductor program at King Abdulaziz City for science and technology, which is working on the design and localization of electronic chips, and expanding the technical portfolio of integrated circuit prototyping services for the research community and startups, which are the engine and the biggest catalyst for building the semiconductor industry.
