Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom will host the International Civil Aviation Conference “The Future of Aviation Conference” in its second edition during the period from 8 to 10 Shawwal 1443 AH, corresponding to 9 to 11 May 2022 AD, in the city of Riyadh.
His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his generous sponsorship of the Conference on the Future of Aviation, and his thanks to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister The Defense for its continuous support and follow-up, noting the continuous support and great interest that the transport and logistics sector receives from the wise leadership, which contributes to achieving the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the advancement of the sector.
His Excellency clarified that the conference achieves one of the objectives of the civil aviation sector strategy emanating from the national strategy for transport and logistics to become an integrated and unique global conference that provides huge investment opportunities, taking advantage of the Kingdom's distinguished strategic location among the three continents of the world. This enhances its attractiveness as a global logistics platform.
He said: "We plan that the Kingdom will be a center for global aviation with investments amounting to $100 billion by 2030 AD, and the establishment of a new and huge airport in Riyadh and eight other airports distributed in the Kingdom's regions, including four airports in partnership with the private sector, in addition to launching a new national airline to enhance transport movement. The strategic vision of the Civil Aviation Authority aims to double the capacity and reach 330 million passengers, from more than 250 destinations in the world, and reach 4.5 million tons of cargo in freight.”
For his part, His Excellency the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, stated that the Conference on the Future of Aviation provides the opportunity to participate in the world of aviation in the Kingdom amid unprecedented opportunities, after the rapid developments witnessed by the sector to be a center for global aviation and the most prominent in the Sharq region Middle East, and focuses on three main themes: "Innovation, Growth and Sustainability".
He explained that the conference encourages commercial deals, unifying global efforts to develop the air transport industry and formulating policies and regulations to keep pace with global developments and changes, in addition to focusing in particular on innovation, which plays a pivotal role in the sector's competitiveness, as well as on growth and sustainability in economic and environmental terms.
From this standpoint, he called on the main and active parties in the aviation sector to visit the Kingdom and participate in finding solutions that contribute to the prosperity of the sector in the coming years, noting that the stage the sector is going through necessitates the importance of activating global cooperation activities in civil aviation, looking forward to achieving the objectives of the conference and a meeting of the most prominent Sector leaders to participate in its agendas and enable collaborative work to support the achievement of ambitions and innovation and to develop the necessary policies to ensure a promising future for the sector.
For his part, the President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Salvatore Schiachitano, stressed that the conference on the future of aviation comes at a critical time for the global aviation sector.

It is noteworthy that the conference on the future of aviation, organized by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, will be launched in the presence of elite representatives of the civil aviation sector around the world and high-level civil aviation leaders from various countries and organizations in addition to the CEOs of a number of international air transport companies and a group of businessmen with the participation of more than 120 Speaking, 40 sessions will be held over three days to explore the future of aviation.
