On this day, past and present meet, recalling the heroic journey of King Abdulaziz – may Allah bless his soul – who marched from Riyadh to establish a nation that united the land and laid the foundation for modern Saudi Arabia.

Roots of Foundation

Born in 1876, King Abdulaziz grew up learning the Qur’an, horsemanship, and courage, before launching from Kuwait to recapture Riyadh in 1902—a turning point that marked the birth of a new state. Through successive battles and achievements, the royal decree of 1932 proclaimed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, laying the cornerstone of a modern state built on Islamic law and institutional modernization.

From Oil to Renaissance

With the discovery of oil in 1938, new horizons opened for development. Financial institutions were established, roads and infrastructure were built, aviation lines launched, and the Kingdom embarked on an economic and social renaissance. King Abdulaziz focused on education, healthcare, and human development, while anchoring the values of security and stability.

An Enduring Legacy

The Founder’s struggle was not limited to state-building but also extended to defending Arab and Islamic causes—most notably Palestine—and advocating for Islamic solidarity.
