Saudi Arabia Tops the G20 Countries in the Safety Index

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has topped the G20 countries according to data from the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals database, compared with the results of the Safety Index for 2023 issued by the General Authority for Statistics today. The results showed that 92.6% of the population feels safe when walking alone at night in their residential areas.

The results, announced by the authority, highlighted the role of the relevant sectors in achieving the safety enjoyed by residents across all regions and governorates of the Kingdom. This aligns with the efforts made to ensure security, safety, and a dignified life in Saudi Arabia in various fields, including economic, food, environmental, health, social, political, intellectual, technological, and cybersecurity, among others. It also emphasizes the improvement of services provided, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia ranked first among the G20 countries in the increase of the safety index in the 2020 Sustainable Development Report.

The Safety Index report is one of the outputs of the 2023 Family Social Economic Survey, which includes several indicators serving the economic, social, and family domains in Saudi Arabia. It focuses on calculating the percentage of residents who feel safe while walking alone in their residential areas.
