أبرمت شركة "أكوا باور"، المطور والمستثمر والمشغل الرائد لمحطات تحلية المياه وتوليد الطاقة والهيدروجين الأخضر حول العالم، مذكرة تفاهم مع شركة الكهرباء الرائدة في النمسا "فيربوند"، بهدف بحث فرص تنفيذ مشاريع مشتركة في مجال الهيدروجين الأخضر على مستوى منطقة الشرق الأوسط وإنتاج الهيدروجين لصالح "فيربوند" لاستخدامه كمصدر للطاقة المتجدّدة في أسواق أوروبا الوسطى مع التركيز على السوق النمساوي.
وتمثل مذكرة التفاهم التي تم توقيعها خلال فعاليات أسبوع أبوظبي للاستدامة 2023، رغبة الطرفين في استكشاف فرص الاستفادة من التأثير الإيجابي لمشاريع الهيدروجين الأخضر على البيئة ومساهمتها في جهود إزالة الكربون من قطاعات صناعية بأكملها، حيث تسارع أبرز شركات الطاقة حول العالم إلى تنفيذ مشاريع الهيدروجين الأخضر في الوقت الحالي لضمان الاستفادة القصوى من إمكاناتها خلال العقود المقبلة.
وفي هذه المناسبة، قال محمد أبونيان، رئيس مجلس إدارة "أكوا باور": "يعكس توقيع مذكرة التفاهم التزامنا الدائم بجهود توفير الطاقة بشكل موثوق ومستدام على نطاق عالمي، ويعبر كذلك عن شغفنا لتحقيق تعاون نوعي مع "فيربوند" للنظر في الفرص المتاحة حاليا لإنتاج الهيدروجين الأخضر لأسواق أوروبا الوسطى مع التركيز على السوق النمساوي، بما ينسجم والجهود الدولية الهادفة إلى تحقيق التحوّل في قطاع الطاقة والمساهمة إيجابيا في جهود التنمية على مستوى المنطقة ككل." وأضاف: "نثمن ما يجمعنا في "أكوا باور" مع شركائنا في "فيربوند" من أهداف مشتركة في مجال دمج مصادر الطاقة المتجدّدة بأنظمة الطاقة على نطاق واسع ودعم جهود إزالة الكربون على المدى البعيد، حيث نتطلع نحو تحقيق استفادة قصوى من الإمكانات المتميزة لدى الطرفين."
ويعتبر الهيدروجين الأخضر، الذي يتم إنتاجه عن طريق التحليل الكهربائي للمياه باستخدام مصادر الطاقة المتجددة فقط، أحد الحلول الواعدة لمعالجة التحديات المرتبطة بالتغير المناخي وتسريع وتيرة تنفيذ استراتيجيات إنتاج الطاقة الخالية من الكربون تماماً، ما يجعل من الهيدروجين الأخضر الوقود الأنظف والأكثر كفاءة في العالم.
ومن جانبه، قال الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "فيربوند"، مايكل ستروغل: "فيربوند هي شركة الطاقة الرائدة في النمسا وإحدى أكبر الشركات المنتجة للطاقة الكهرومائية في أوروبا. وحاليا تغطي عملياتنا التشغيلية سلسلة قيمة الطاقة بأكملها من خلال محفظة مشاريعنا التي تضمّ إنتاج الطاقة المتجدّدة ونقل الكهرباء والغاز، بالإضافة إلى التعامل التجاري مع منتجات الطاقة وما يرتبط بها من خدمات، وذلك باعتبار الهيدروجين الأخضر هو مستقبل قطاع الطاقة". مضيفا " نحن سعداء بالإعلان عن تعاوننا مع "أكوا باور" للنظر في الفرص المرتبطة بمشاريع الهيدروجين الأخضر، لضمان منظومة طاقة مستدامة وقادرة على تلبية احتياجات المستقبل."
وفيما يعتبر التعاون بمثابة باكورة العلاقة ما بين "أكوا باور" و"فيربوند"، فإن الشركتين بما تملكانه من موارد وإمكانات قادرتين على تحقيق تقدّم سريع على مستوى مشاريع الهيدروجين الأخضر، خصوصا مع ما تقوم به "أكوا باور" من جهود نوعية في هذا الإطار.
وفي السياق ذاته، تعمل شركة نيوم للهيدروجين الأخضر، وهي مشروع مشترك ما بين "أكوا باور" و"إير برودكتس" و"نيوم"، على تطوير أول مشروع لإنتاج الهيدروجين الأخضر على نطاق واسع في العالم، والذي من المخطط له أن يصل مرحلة الإنجاز الكامل بحلول عام 2026، حيث سينتج يومياً ما يصل إلى 600 طن من الهيدروجين الأخضر الخالي من الكربون على شكل أمونيا خضراء، لاستخدامه كحلّ فعّال من حيث التكلفة ضمن قطاع النقل على المستوى العالمي.
وسوف تسهم الإمكانات التكنولوجية التي تتمتّع بها شركة "فيربوند" وما تملكه من خبرات في مجال الطاقة الكهرومائية لأكثر من 75 عاماً، مدعومة بخبرة "أكوا باور" ومعرفتها الواسعة في مجال الهيدروجين الأخضر وعمليات إنتاجه، في تحقيق الأهداف المستقبلية المنشودة من مذكرة التفاهم.

Memorandum of Understanding signed during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates/ Riyadh, KSA – 18 January 2023: ACWA Power, a leading Saudi developer, investor, and operator of power generation, water desalination and green hydrogen plants worldwide, has finalised a partnership agreement with VERBUND, Austria’s leading electricity company, to jointly explore the potential development of green hydrogen projects in the Middle East region to produce hydrogen to be used by Verbund as a renewable energy source to Central Europe with a primary focus on Austria.
Given its positive environmental implications and capabilities to decarbonise entire industrial sectors, energy sector players around the globe are embarking on ambitious green hydrogen projects that will harness their full potential in the decades ahead. To firmly establish the co-operation between ACWA Power and VERBUND, both partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the ongoing Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2023.

Produced by electrolysis of water using only renewable energy sources, green hydrogen is one of the most promising solutions for addressing climate change and accelerating carbon-free strategies, with zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions making it the world’s cleanest, most efficient fuel.

Although the collaboration between ACWA Power and VERBUND has only just begun, the two parties are well-positioned to drive project progression quickly, partly due to ACWA Power’s ongoing green hydrogen activities and involvement.
The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC), an equal joint-venture between ACWA Power, Air Products and NEOM, is developing the world’s first at scale green hydrogen project. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the project will produce up to 600 tonnes per day of carbon free green hydrogen in the form of green ammonia to be utilised as a cost-effective solution for transportation globally.
VERBUND’s technological capabilities and over 75 years of hydropower expertise, combined with ACWA Power’s green hydrogen knowledge, experience, and operations, will help ensure that the MoU’s objectives, terms, and aspirations are met moving forward.
